annatSporticus has put a lot of effort last 2 years to international students. Board decided that now was a good moment to introduce some of our lovely exchange students to rest of Liikunta. If you have been this semester in Åre or some other events you have for sure met these two lovely German girls 😉

Who are you and where are you from?

Anna-Sophia: Moi, I´m Anna from Germany, studying Physical education in München.

Anna: Hey, I’m Anna (Sophie) and I’m from Germany. At the moment I’m studying Sportmanagement in Cologne but I grew up in Kiel, which is in the north of Germany.

You are the first international students who have ever been nominated. How does it feel like?

Anna-Sophia: It´s a good feeling. It wasn´t that easy in the beginning to get to know the Finnish students. Now it is really nice to have some of them as my friends!

Anna: It’s a great honor. I worked hard for this and I would like to thank my mum for always supporting me.

No just kidding. It makes me happy and I’m really a little bit proud. It’s nice to see that we were so good accepted and integrated in the student life in Jyväskylä.

Why did you chose to come Finland for exchange?

Anna-Sophia: I always wanted to go somewhere north to experience a real winter and to see how the people live there. Since I just had English in school I had to go to a university that offers courses in English. And then I picked the city with the most complicated name ?

Anna: There were a few different reasons. One is that my best friend from my hometown is half Finnish and I’ve already spent some amazing summers with her in Finland. Another is that I’ve met some really nice students from Jyväskylä (Lennu and Ida) who had done there exchange in Cologne and I wanted to see them again. And last but not least – I wanted to get to know the famous Finnish education system. 😉

Your names are similar and you live together, has there been any funny things/misunderstandings because of that?

Anna-Sophia: In the beginning, when I moved in the other Anna was already there. But I was not able to get into my room, since they had given me the key for her room.

You have joined quite a lot of events here, what has been your favorite one?

Anna-Sophia: The Liikunta ball in December ?

Anna: Kostajaiset and the skitrip to Are! But I actually had fun on all your events. It’s great to see how much effort everyone is always putting in the parties, in the costumes, challenges, the band evening and so one.

What have you learnt from Finland /students of Liikunta?

Anna-Sophia: That, no matter how cold it is, you can always go outside and do sport there. And that sport clothes are the thing to wear

Anna: A lot about finnish “culture” like sauna, ice skating, sitsit and the whole drinking tradition, their love for karaoke and so on.

What are you going to miss from Finland and what not?

Anna-Sophia: I´ll miss OT and that you can always go there and meet people there or just relax there between the courses. We don´t have anything similar at home. And I´ll miss the nature around and that almost everyone takes a bike. I won´t miss the snow in May.

Anna: I’m definitely going to miss the people and the amazing atmosphere in Liikunta.

I will not miss the darkness of the winter days. I mean I really enjoyed the cold winter and all the winter sport activities, but I would have preferred some more sunshine. 😉

Tell us something you can say in Finnish

Anna-Sophia: Kippis!

Anna: Savu seuraa lampaannussijaa ja Sampsa on koiranussija. (sorry Samspa- Ville made me do this 😀 )

Last months kuukauden liikuntalainen asked what kind of advice you wish you would have had when you came to study at Liikunta?

A&A: Not quite sure. I felt kind of prepared. Maybe to leave my summer clothes home, because I did not use them at all.

What would you like to ask next months student?

What do you think is a stereotypical German person like?

kiitos! Danke schön!
