Dear international colleagues,
Sporticus (your student association, but you already knew that) assembles monthly all major events and occasions around campus into one message to help all its members keep track of these happenings. And here you go, this info for the first time also in English (date and time format is according to the Finnish standard).
starting 3.10. student lunch until 18:00 @ Libri
For a while things seemed desperate, since all the lunch places closed at 4 PM. But now our prayers (and feedback) have been heard and Libri at the University Library serves lunch until 6 PM. Also paper lunch tickets made a comeback (10 meals) and you can buy them at all the lunch places.
6.10. at 8:00-20:00 Liikunta-appro @ Jyväskylä
Those of you who attended Appro last week know already the drill. Only this time you do sports instead of shots. Students can collect stickers to their diploma by attending different kinds of sports experiments around the city. You’ll find more info behind the link.
6.10. at 15:00-> Sporticus’ Theme Thursday @ Liikunta
Theme Thursday is a new recurring event with changing themes every time. Theme Thursdays are organized every other week and this week the theme is an outdoors trip (by foot or bike) to Haukanniemi. Departure is at 3 PM in front of Liikunta building and return just in time for #derbyjkl (Ice hockey match at Synergia Arena at 9 PM).

13.10. at 11:45-12:15 Fair Coffee Break @ Liikunta lobby
Due to the Development Cooperation week, you are all invited to join Sporticus for a cup of Fair trade coffee and some snacks in the lobby. You will hear what this theme week is all about and also find out more about Sporticus’ blood donation group. And again you can also buy 3miot -tickets and other student overall badges.

One ticket, three bars. This time it is a gangsta costume party. Best outfits receive surprises.
17.10. at 8:15-12:00 general examination day @ Liikunta
17.10. at 16:00-04:00 Freshmen party @ Jyväskylä area & London
The older classes get to give the freshmen a hard time by organizing different control points all around Jyväskylä. Come see these activity points and join the after party in Bar London. There is a colour code at this after party so stay tuned for more info.
19.10. starting at 9:00-> Excursion @ Jyväskylä
Sporicus has organized an excursion to different sports organizations and companies based in Jyväskylä, for example LIKES and Firstbeat.
20.10. at 18:00-> Sporticus’ Theme Thursday @ Campus field
Want to learn some typical Finnish childhood games? The third Theme Thursday goes with the theme ”Games in the dark” and you’ll only need a flashlight, suitable clothes and a playful mind. The games are help on the sports field next to Liikunta.
27.10. Sporticus’ blood donation day @ Veripalvelu
Doing the right thing can also be a competition at Liikunta. Stay tuned for more info closer to the event.

Starting October you’ll need a new sticker for your student ID for this academic year in order to get a student discount from travelling and eating. Remember to get yours from JYY’s main office or the T-building.
